What are some comprehensive books about the history of English literature?
I am looking for a history of the literature in the English language from Beowulf to the 1960s and beyond, including Colonial and North American Literature. Can you give any book or textbook titles? Also textbooks currently used in colleges and universities are good. Thank you.
